Auto-Centring
An Efficient and Accurate Crane Control Feature
Auto-Centering Crane Control: Precision Positioning Made Effortless
Auto-centring crane control is an advanced feature designed to enhance the operational efficiency of cranes by automatically directing them to the nearest designated station. This functionality significantly benefits the operator by improving the accuracy of the crane’s final positioning compared to manual control.
For example, when an operator is maneuvering the crane towards “Station #1”, they can drive the crane into the general vicinity of the station and then stop. At this point, a green light on the console activates, signalling that the load is “within range” of the programmed station. The operator can then press a button labelled “Auto Centre,” which initiates a precise, controlled movement of the crane from its current position to the nearest programmed station.
Advanced Skew Control: Real-Time Monitoring and Correction for Optimal Crane Performance
Skew is measured using various sensors installed on the bridge. The PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) manages the bridge axis drives in both manual and automatic modes. While the crane is in motion, the PLC continuously monitors and adjusts the skew by varying the speed commands sent to the bridge motors, ensuring that perpendicularity is maintained. Skew will be monitored and corrected in real-time, and if excessive skew is detected, an alarm will be triggered to stop the crane.
