A Successful Crane Installation at York University’s New Engineering Building

York University crane install: O’Brien Installations Limited (O’Brien) has delivered an overhead crane for the new 169,000-square-foot, five-storey Lassonde School of Engineering building at York University in Toronto, Ontario

O’Brien’s contract with construction company, Laing O’Rourke Canada included delivering a 12.5 ton overhead crane and 1 ton monorail system.

The 12.5 ton, top running single girder overhead crane is equipped with Street Crane’s benchmark products the ZX electric wire rope hoist and related overhead crane components. The ZX hoist offers superior load safety, exceptional performance and requires minimal maintenance due to an intelligent design. In addition to the hoist’s industry leading standard features, a unique LED load indicator display was installed on the crane notifying operators the load weight accurate within 2% of the load weight.

The overhead crane was safely installed on site by O’Brien field services on schedule.
