1963
We open our doors
Mr. Hugh O’Brien forms O’Brien Installations in Hamilton ON as an industrial door and dock installation company.
1966
Taking the next step
O’Brien Installations becomes a limited company.
1967
Making a move
O’Brien Installations Limited moves from Hamilton to Stoney Creek, ON
1972
Expanding to meet demand
O’Brien Installations Limited builds its own facility as business and demand continue to grow.
1974
Becoming a DEMAG dealer
O’Brien Installations Limited expands into the business of manufacturing and installing crane support structures.
1985
Licensing agreement for jib cranes
O’Brien Installations Limited signs a licensing agreement with Vetter Krantechnik and begins to market and build jib cranes throughout North America.
1987
A reciprocating partnership
Mannesmann Demag agrees to market and sell O’Brien jib cranes through their dealer and distribution market.
2002
Partnering with Street Crane Co. of the UK
O’Brien Installations Limited adds Street hoist products to their overhead crane systems.
2004
Expanding to Quebec
O’Brien Installations Limited opens a sales and service facility to expand operations into Quebec.
2005
Growing dealer networks
O’Brien Installations Limited continues to pursue growth with dealer networks throughout Canada and the US.
2011
Another partnership and a move
O’Brien Installations Limited becomes a manufacturing partner with MET-TRACK to produce their workstation and jib cranes exclusively in Canada and the northeastern USA. O’Brien Installations Limited makes a strategic move from Stoney Creek to Burlington ON in order to better serve their customers.
2016
A new name
O’Brien Installations Ltd. officially changes its name to O’Brien Lifting Solutions Inc. to better reflect its innovation and impact on the industry.
2021
Opened new branch
On May 1st, O’Brien opened a branch in London, Ontario as part of its initiative to expand its reach in Southwestern Ontario.
2023
Acquired by Flatiron Crane Operating Company
Flatiron Crane Operating Company acquired O’Brien Lifting Solution in April 2023. The acquisition will benefit both companies in their expertise, experience, and customer base. This will strengthen their market position and improve their services.
